cops_meteoatlas: contains pdf-file of the COPS-atlas with meteorological overview plots

Quicklook
Summary
This is COPS-atlas, version of 20, October 2008
Download (pdf, ca. 80 MB)

This Atlas provides an overview over the meteorological situation for every day during the COPS period (June-August 2007). The main goals are to illustrate the synoptic situation in Europe, the daily precipitation distribution in Germany, and the quality of precipitation forecasts from various numerical weather prediction models in the German part of the COPS area.

For each day of the COPS field experiment six figures are shown with the
following information:
- potential vorticity on 325K and sea level pressure from ECMWF analyses
- vertically integrated water vapour, 10-m wind vectors and sea level
pressure from ECMWF analyses
- equivalent potential temperature on 925hPa and sea level pressure from ECMWF
analyses
- observed daily precipitation (from gridded rain gauge data)
- SAL diagram and traditional quality measures for the precipitation forecasts
from different models.
