Evaluation Simulations of the REMO2020 Town Energy Balance Urban Model

Pietikäinen, Joni Pekka

Experiment
Summary
This dataset contains simulations performed with the REMO2020 regional climate model to evaluate the coupling of the Town Energy Balance (TEB) urban canopy model. Simulations were conducted at horizontal resolutions of 0.11° (2011-2020) and 0.0275° (2020), using 49 vertical levels and ERA5 reanalysis data as lateral boundary forcing.

The dataset includes simulations with the standard REMO2020 configuration, REMO2020 coupled to TEB, simulations using the Interactive MOsaic-based VEgetation model (iMOVE), and vegetation-only experiments in which urban areas were replaced by natural vegetation. Static fields used by the model, including land-sea mask, orography, urban fraction, urban masks, and lake fraction, are also provided.

The published variables were selected to support evaluation of urban climate processes, near-surface meteorological conditions, and land-atmosphere interactions in the REMO2020-TEB model configuration.
